Department of posts-MH has released recruitment notification for 1371 vacancies for the post of Postman, Mailguard, MTS ,Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official website on or before 10-11-2020.

Educational qualification:

  • Postman/Mail Guard: 12th standard pass from a recognized Board
  • Multi Tasking Staff: 10th standard pass from a recognized Board

For selection in Maharashtra State, the Applicant should have studied and passed Marathi language at least up to 10th standard,

For selection in Goa State, the Applicant should have studied and passed Konkani or Marathi language  up to 10th standard.

Postmen/Mailguard Job Profile:

Postmen/Mailguards are at the base of India Post as Postman works in the frontend dealing with distribution of letters, articles, and parcels to their destinations; whereas the Mailguard works in the backend dealing with transportation of bags of those letters, articles, and parcels from and to Railway Mail Service (RMS) for sorting before they go to the desired post office for distribution.

As far as career growth is concerned,both Postman/Mailguard can appear in the departmental  examinations, after successful completion of 3-year tenure. Postman can become Postal Assistant (PA) and work on the counter in the post office whereas the Mail guard can become Sorting Assistant (SA) and work in the RMS office where sorting of letters, articles, and parcels booked in the post offices takes place. Both PA and SA posts carry higher grade-pay than that of Postman / Mail guard, hence amount to higher salaries.

 Pay scale:

  • Postman/Mail Guard : Pay Matrix ( Ovilian Employees) Pay LeveF3 (Rs. 21,700-69,100)
  • Multi Tasking Staff : Pay Matrix (Civilian Employees) Pay LeveFl (Rs. 18,000-56,900)

What is the age limit?

  • Age limit for the posts of Postrnan/Mail Guard is 18 – 27 years.
  • Age limit for the posb of Multi Tasking Staff is 18 – 25 years.

Age relaxation will be provided as per Govt rules and regulation

  • UR/EWS/OBC Candidates:Rs 500/-
  • SC/ST,PWD,Women candidates:Rs 100

Selection process:

Selection will be made on the basis of Computer based examination

This Recruitment examination shall be conducted as per the Syllabus and Pattern of Examinations prescribed by the Department of Posts, New Delhi Memo No. 17-08/2018-SPB-I dated 10.05.2019 and amended from time to time.

Pattern and syllabus of examination will be the same for both the examinations for the post of (A) Postman/Mail Guard and (B) Multi Tasking Staff. However, the level of examination for Postman/Mail Guard will be 12th standard and for Multi Tasking Staff will be 10th Standard. Separate online examinations will be conducted on different dates for recruitment to the posts of Postman/Mail Guard and Multi Tasking Staff.
